The Greek player confessed he was expecting much more trouble in the 1st round tie against Frenchman Gilles Simon. The postmatch interview turned into a pure show
Once he retires from tennis, Stefanos Tsitsipas doesn't need to worry about his retirement days. The stand-up performances he already delivers are as good as it gets, and he should definitely engage in the world of comedians.
After trashing experienced French player Gilles Simon 3-0 (6-1, 6-2, 6-1) in the first round of the 2021 Australian Open, the 5th seeded youngster put on a proper show for the fans. Asked about his thoughts on the match, Tsitsipas was exalted and unusually honest for a modern-day athlete.
"Don't know what to say. I obviously wasn't expecting it to come so easy, it was a great match from my side," noticed Tsitsipas, resulting in audience's laughter.
"I mean, let's be honest... Oh, my God, I messed it up already, right. Well, I think I played a spectacular match from the beginning to the end," added the Greek, before he realised he just continued to brag about his performance and smiled again.

Spontaneously he returned to microphone at the Rod Laver Arena, but it was a real blow.
"Don't know what his tactic was, but...". But that was all he managed to say before bursting into laughter for the third time in less than a minute, proving it couldn't be brought to an end the way it was planed.
"I can just leave if you want me to".
Some of Tsitsipas' most exciting moments in his short career have come at Melbourne Park, stunning Roger Federer en route to the semi-finals in 2019 before being beaten by Rafael Nadal. He is bidding to become the youngest Australian Open men's singles champion since Novak Djokovic in 2008. His next contender is Thanasi Kokkinakis, the Australian prodigy of Greek's origins.
